Crowdfunding Project to Support Research

Please help us promote a new innovative new project that is attempting to fund pilot research via crowdfunding.  Penn State has recently shown a lot of interest in the potential to use crowdfunding to support research and we are the first group to try it out here at Penn State. In addition to seeking funds to support our research, we are also trying to pave the way for other Penn State researchers to tap into the crowdfunding resources in the future!

We've partnered with an exciting group called the #SciFund Challenge, whose mission is to provide a platform to help scientists determine if crowdfunding is a viable option to fund research.  In their first round of projects, #SciFund Challenge was able to raise over $76,000 for science!

In our first attempt to elicit crowdfunding, Lisa Whyte, a post-doc working in the Laboratory of Developmental Neuroscience, has set up a Scifund page at Rockethub to raise money to support our autism intervention work.  She is interested in incorporating her extensive experiences in the world of gaming to build elaborate interventions for adolescents with autism.  We launched the crowdfunding project two days ago and we have already generated over $600 for our research, but we still have a long way to go! We have set a goal of raising $10,000.

Thanks so much for your help!
